3 Year Olds - Nursery School |
Objectives are:
- To learn to share toys, feelings, etc.
- To appropriately display emotions
- To learn how to handle themselves in various situations; when someone hits or calls names; when possessions are taken; when working for common good; when solving problems
- To develop these skills: counting; 1-to-1 correspondence; matching colors, shapes, sizes; number recognition to 10; counting to 25 or higher; alphabet; verbally speaking ABCs; emphasis on letter recognition; memorize Pledge of Allegiance; improve ability to recall; learn name, address, age, phone number & other information about family; socialization: learn to function as an individual or in a group; memory development: auditory and visual; large motor: running, ball skills, balance; small motor: develop finesse in coloring and drawing (pre-handwriting) skills; names of city, state, school, parents' work
We encourage independence and positive self-concept. We work to improve basic skills & abilities from younger ages, if needed, for a better foundation upon which to build new skills.

Kindergarten - Full-Day Classes |
Class Objectives are:
- To make choices on sharing toys, feelings, etc. through reasoning
- To be a contributing member of a group
- To improve pro-social behavior such as appropriately displaying anger
- To develop a positive self-concept, self-esteem, personal value
- To practice large group listening skills
- To develop these skills: numbers: counting ability to 100; number recognition to 50; beginning addition; concepts of greater than, less than; letters: complete mastery of letters by sight; all sounds, blends, matching upper and lowercase, beginning sounding out words as individual development allows; first and last name spelling, address, phone number, birthday
- To develop these skills: words: vocabulary, use of rhymes and opposites; beginning sounds, ending sounds; spatial relations: recognize right from left, etc.; sequencing; left to right tracking; small motor: shoe tying; cutting; gluing; buttoning; zipping; printing; 2 dimensional drawing; sewing; large motor: jump rope; cartwheels; running; ball skills; skipping; balance beam; team games
All children will be well prepared for their first grade experience. |

2 Year Olds - Pre-Nursery School |
Objectives are:
- To learn to play with others
- To learn to share (feelings, toys, snacks, etc.)
- To develop abilities such as: counting; sing the ABC song; matching colors; shape discrimination (circle, square, etc.); directional concepts (up, down, over, etc.); fine motor skills (hand to eye coordination, etc.); large motor skills (hopping, skipping, etc.)
- To learn manners
- To know full name, age and family members
- To learn to enjoy music, rhythm & movement
- To learn to express themselves: build vocabulary
We encourage independence, help with toilet training and speech & language development. As ability levels increase, we encourage each child to do more. The children work on:
- 1-to-1 correspondence; can say or sing alphabet; recognize some letters; name colors; say Pledge of Allegiance; gain confidence in the world, themselves and others; improve socialization skills; improve auditory and visual memory

4 Year Olds - Pre-Kindergarten |
This class is designed to accommodate various ages (4's & 5's) who are developmentally at the same level. We want to build on basic skills in preparation for Kindergarten. Most of all, we want to help each child acquire a thirst for learning through discovery.
Class objectives are:
- To choose to share toys, feelings, etc. from time to time
- To be a cooperative part of a group
- To learn pro-social behavior
- To gain independence and confidence in themselves
- To learn & practice large group listening skills and reasoning ability
- To develop these skills or concepts: numbers: counting to 50, number recognition to 15; 1-to-1 correspondence; greater than, less than; letters: recognition of alphabet; learning difference between letters and numbers; some letter sounds, rhyming and opposites
- To learn to recognize with reasonable accuracy: color words: will match words with colors
- To master address, name, age, city, state, phone, family information
- To master Pledge of Allegiance
- To improve memory (recall) of sensory input (five senses)
- To understand spatial relationships
- To improve small motor: printing progress to using pencils, print first name; coloring and drawing; may be able to add end dimension
- To make progress in cutting and pasting
- To learn to tie shoes
- To gain new large motor skills: begin jumping rope, coordinated running, balance, mastery level skipping
Each child will be well prepared for the requirements of Kindergarten classes. Testing is available to assist with Kindergarten enrollment decisions, etc.

Parents, you should...
- bring your child clean and properly dressed (including shoes)
- be sure your child has had adequate rest and is in good health
- keep a clean change of clothes in the center at all times
- inform the Director if your child has allergy; has been exposed to a contagious illness; has had a change in behavior or been exposed to a traumatic experience
- notify the Director of planned vacations or absences in advance, or call when your child is absent
- keep your emergency information and child's records up to date
- keep your child's health records up to date
- inform the center when someone other than Mom or Dad will be picking up a child
- pick your child up on time, or call the center when you may be late (late pickup fees still apply)
- pay all tuition and fees on time

As a Pine Hills parent, you will...
- know the philosophy and goals of the Program
- know and help set the daily schedule for your child, including program plan, time of meals and naps
- advance notice for field trips, etc.
- know how your child is behaving, growing, learning and interacting with others — both children and adults
- know how the staff deals with anger (either in adult or child)
- know how children are disciplined and have an opportunity to offer your input about discipline
- know if there are special joys or problems in dealing with your child's behavior or attitude
- know what children are fed (quantity, quality) and in what atmosphere
- know our health and safety policy procedures (what happens injury, accident or illness)
- know the sanitation standards and the health habits that will be enforced
